7 killed in traffic accident in western Turkey

Seven members of a family, including three children and a baby, were killed on Saturday in a traffic accident in Turkey's western province of Izmir, Turkish media reported.

The tragedy happened when two light commercial vehicles crashed head-on in the Kaynaklar neighborhood of the Buca district, the private IHA news agency said.

Just before the crash, the driver, who was reportedly taking his family to a picnic, lost control of the vehicle and crossed to the other side of the road, said IHA.

According to the report, the driver of the other vehicle was wounded and rushed to a nearby hospital.
