Bus-car collision kills 10 in northern Egypt

At least 10 people were killed and 10 others wounded on Thursday when their bus collided with a car in Egypt's northern province of Beheira, official news agency MENA reported.

The police said the accident at a high road was caused by poor visibility in heavy fog.

Egypt suffers a high rate of traffic accidents that kill thousands of people every year over lack of highway monitoring systems, inadequate road maintenance and negligence of traffic rules.

According to official statistics authority, the number of traffic accidents in Egypt reached 11,100 in 2017, leaving about 3,700 dead and 14,000 others injured.

Human errors are responsible for about 80 percent of road accidents in the most populous Arab country.
