More than 10,000 items featuring culture souvenirs, time-honored brand products and the collectibles are up for grabs at the 7th Beijing International Tourism Commodities and Tourism Equipment Fair from October 20-22.

The fair is hosted by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development and has brought together nearly 1,000 enterprises from six countries and regions.

It aims to boost tourism trade and enable a balanced and healthy tourism industry in the capital.

"Beijing has profound history and culture resources, and outstanding scientific innovation abilities, which gives it an edge in developing tourism commodities," said Song Yu, director of the Beijing tourism commission.

A tourism commodity design competition will also be held to encourage innovation.

The capital has shown great potential in tourism consumption over the years.

Last year, total tourism revenue reached 546.9 billion yuan ($78.93 billion), up 8.9 percent year-on-year.
