A technical team of China Railway First Survey Design Institute Group is scheduled to arrive in Nepal to conduct a pre-feasibility study on the proposed cross-border railway between China and Nepal, a senior official of Nepal's Department of Railway said.

During the visit of a Nepali delegation led by Madhusudan Adhhikari, secretary at Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, last week to China, it was agreed that the Chinese company would conduct the study, Prakash Bhakta Upadhayay, a member of the Nepali delegation, told Xinhua on Sunday.

Upadhyay said the Chinese company will study on potential alignments of the proposed railway, social and environmental impact and geological aspect.

"It will prepare and submit the study report by August," he said.

The Nepali government considers the cross-border railway connecting China's Kerung and Napali capital Kathmandu as one of the potential projects to be developed under the Belt and Road Initiative, officials said.
