In the morning of May 6th, the first session of "Silk Road Shaanxi Cuisine International Food Festival" was held in Jinshi Square, Datang West City, Xi'an. Wei Zengjun, Vice-governor of Shaanxi Provincial People's Government attended and announced the official launch of the activity. Zhao Runmin, Secretary of Party Committee and Director of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce presided over the opening ceremony. This Food Festival, as the first activity of the third session of Silk Expo, has especially set up "three-exhibitions one-meeting" activity for the vast citizens and visitors in Shaanxi as well as delegates to understand Shaanxi cuisine culture and taste the featured delicious food.
During the opening ceremony, Gao Gao, Deputy Mayor of Xi’an City said in his speech that this activity will enable vast citizens to better experience the charm of silk road style food and feel the connotation of silk road culinary culture through special designed exhibition and culture performance with the theme of “Source of Chinese Gourmet, City of International Food”so as to lay foundation for Shaanxi Cuisine’s industrialization, popularization and “going out”.
It is reported that this activity is sponsored by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce and Xi’an People’s Government and undertaken by Xi’an Bureau of Commerce and Shaanxi Provincial Chamber of Commerce of Catering Industry. According to the introduction of Lv Hengjun, Director of Xi’an Bureau of Commerce, from May 6 to May 15, three featured food exhibition areas with different feature themes will be created in Datang West City, Yongxingfang and Hui Community to invite vast citizens for a taste. Meanwhile, Silk Road Shaanxi Cuisine Development Discussion & Tasting will be held in Datang West City on May 12 to strengthen the Shaanxi Cuisine’s domestic and international exchange and cooperation through experts and scholars’ theoretical discussion, practical exchange of catering enterprises and experience & tasting of classical Shaanxi Cuisine.
Then, Wei Zengjun will invite the participating guests to take a tour in the main exhibition hall of silk road style food in Datang West City. (by Wang Mengfan, Wang Siyao)
